SIMposium 2012 marketing!

SIMposium 2012 Flyer 2-13-12  I enjoyed the CIO Perspectives conference last week.  Nellson Burns, VP – IT for “The HollyFrontier Companies” said of the Society of Information Management: “The role of SIM is to be the voice of IT Leadership”.  He also mentioned, and I agree, that it is an opportunity to reflect on our own goals and organizations.  Nellson mentioned to always try and take something away in the lessons learned category and be sure to  meet someone new.  He said that he’s personally benefited from SIM in the last three years.  I agree, SIM is simply a wonderful organization that is focused on developing today AND tomorrow’s I.T. leadership.  Which reminds me, the NATIONAL SIM conference “SIMposium” is in Dallas this year, October 28 – 30 at the Gaylord Texan Hotel (oops, sorry, “resort!”) in Grapevine.  Those of us on the SIMposium marketing committee are busy trying to get the word out.  Yours truly is tasked to leverage SEO – which is WHY you are seeing this blog right now!  If you have some suggestions please let me know.  So far we’ve discussed getting a dozen or so SIM volunteers to comment on forums or other web postings that are aligned with our topics of interest, and referencing the SIMposium links.  Additionally, web analytics is involved, so I’m scrambling to learn all I can there – send suggestions!  SIM member Zain Ali sponsors the use of his Web Analytics tool – which basically works well with Firefox, Chrome and other browsers to monitor key words on twitter, Facebook, RSS and other traffic.  So I’ll need to dig into finding those posts to see where we can get the most bang for the buck.

Thanks to Kevin Christ with Alvarez and Marsal for getting me involved in the marketing of SIMposium, I figure I can benefit from new SEO knowledge.

If you have not yet signed up for the SIMposium, NOW is the time to do it before the price goes up after February 29th!  Hey, SIMposium needs sponsors, an INCREDIBLE opportunity to get your company exposure to the I.T. “Big Guns”.  Contact these folks to learn more about SIMposium sponsorships.

Oh, but you’re not a SIM member yet?   Well then, check out the opportunities and eligibility for membership at SIM.
